My Day Off.

“So I was sitting in my cubicle today, and I realized that ever since I started working, every single day of my life has been worse than the day before it. So that means that every single day that you see me, that’s the worst day of my life.”

“What about today? Is today the worst day of your life?”

“Wow, that’s messed up.”

“I realized that we don’t have a lot of time on this earth. We weren’t meant to spend it this way. Human beings weren’t meant to sit in little cubicles, staring at computer screens all day, filling out useless forms and listening to eight different bosses drone on about mission statements.”

I spent my entire day off counting down the minutes until Labor Day weekend.

How did you spend my day off?

  1. If you keep taking days off, you won’t have to worry about wasting your life away in a cubicle because they will fire you. Then you can worry about wasting your life away looking for a job where you can sit in a cubicle all day!

  2. I took the day off because I had to. I was picking up the keys to our new apartment, and some other things that couldn’t wait until the weekend. If I pass my probation on November 17, God willing, then they can’t really fire me as long as I show up. Sometimes that’s a challenge, though.

I heard a few samples of the new Faint CD, and it sounded interesting. I’ll certainly pick it up when it’s released. I’m sure it’s better than Beep Beep, which sounds like a guy with turret’s syndrome having a seizure. I want my money back. I also gave “Media” another listen, and realized it’s not all that bad. I’ve always thought that “Some Incriminating Photographs” is the best Faint song, period.

  3. “Media” is good, as long as you don’t think of it as the Faint. It’s a pretty decent album, but it’s nothing at all like they are now.

Beep Beep’s CD is good, but I was hoping it would have been better.

“Wet From Birth” is no “Danse Macabre” but then what is? It’s definitely good. More use of strings and such. I think Joel’s experience with Broken Spindles is coming through a bit more. If you haven’t heard Broken Spindles, check out “Fulfilled/Completed.” I like it anyway. But yeah, the use of strings reminds me of the Broken Spindles record.

Is that Weinermobile still there? Steal it.

  4. “Wet from Birth”…that’s disgusting, and it makes me want to vomit up all of my delcious cheesy shells and jalapenos lunch.

Heard some of Beep Beep…not so good. Kind of silly. I grow weary of that type of minimalist tripe.

I didn’t get a day off, but I did get to go to a doctor’s appointment. I would have rather been at work, I think, except that I got to go out to lunch with my hubby. That made the crapiness of a doctor’s visit (is there a pun in there, ryan?) worthwhile.

I never see the Weinermobile…seems like Ryan sees it at least every other month. I work RIGHT NEXT TO Oscar Meyer, and I have yet to see it. What’s up with that?

  5. I still don’t know if I want to go to that show or not. I’m sure you already got your ticket and everything, but I’m thinking I might not be able to attend. I just don’t know if I can handle TV on the Radio. They are terrible. If Beep Beep would have been better, I would consider it more, but I just don’t know. I’m sure it’s going to be a blast to see the Faint, though.

Yeah, “Media” is decent if you don’t think of them as the Faint. I’ll pick up Wet From Birth when it comes out, or maybe if your feeling generous you could burn me a copy to listen to until it’s released. 🙂

(Wet From Birth IS pretty gross sounding.)

Celia, although you had to go to the Doctor, it was nice to spend lunch with you when we both should have been at work. We need to do that more often, Doctor appointments excluded.

  6. Oh, and I heard some Broken Spindles stuff, and it sounded sorta neat. I have a link for Micro Music on my page you should go to. Video game music made from video game equipment.

The Wienermobile is gone now, but I really did check for keys.

  7. I have my ticket already, but I’ve got someone to go with, so don’t worry if you don’t want to go.

I’m not looking forward to seeing TV on the Radio either…
